Get Creative June 1st challenge

Happy June everyone!

What better way to start off June 1st than to use the ‘SUN’ as inspiration??

You can use it in your title, your photo, your pattern paper, your journaling, die cuts and so on!!!

Here is my take on it:

I may have gone a bit overboard, but I’ve used it in the title, in the journaling, the sticker, the circle behind the photo, and the shading created in the photo …

These are actually lyrics from a song and they suited me to a tee, as I was on my own in this stretch of my trip to the UK, the photo is take in Bath, one morning while I was exploring the city, enjoying myself, happy to be under a blue sky, me, myself and I! 🙂🙂

The birdie on the tree, and the title are stickers, along with the pattern papers are from Echo park – Summer Kit which I got from Enjoy Scrapping … they still have some left I believe.  There’s also a bit of washi tape there to add dimension … I got that from Angel’s Crafts!

As promised more Tangling on my pages!!!

and a close-up:

I hope you’ve enjoyed this layout as much as I did making it!!!

Please go to the Get Creative Blog to see what my other fellow DT members did … it will be worth your while!

Have a great summer!!

Scrapbooking is …

And sooo much more!!!

With the challenge set by Lena Makri on her Enjoy Scrapping Blog, which was to tell about how I enjoy scrapping … I came up with the following layout ….

I don’t just enjoy scrapbooking … I live it … I laugh with & at it … and I definitely play … hence the photo of me from our first Crafty Croppers Crop!

A couple of days ago, my sister-in-law posted on my Facebook wall a site called Wordle … what it does is create clouds of words … so I typed my blog address in, and the words you see in the middle of the layout is the result … I printed it out and voila!!

I’ve used a number of Echo Park papers and embellies which I actually have bought from Enjoy Scrapping … so as they are so colourful and lively, it seemed fitting to use … the twine and metal scissor is from a current exchange we did [thanks Zeff for everything!]

Finally my latest craze is washi tapes … I love the feel of them, their translucency, their colours … I’ve added three strips to the layout to create a lacy border edge!

Have a great Sunday everyone, and I’ll be back later today for another post!🙂

Follow your Heart!

I didn’t think that I would have another layout to show you so soon, but here I am again …

Recently I had bought a ‘Be Happy’ kit from Enjoy Scrapping which had all the latest My Mind’s Eye products …. so I decided to play with their Blog Challenge 33 on the My Mind’s Eye Blog!

We have to use the following sketch, and use 80% of their products ….

So here is my layout, and please excuse the terrible photos as they are taken at night …

The photo in the layout is from a wedding that I attended 2 years ago. In the photo is myself, Roula and Nectaria and we are dancing at the reception!

The only thing that is not My Mind’s Eye is the baker’s twine, the word YMCA and the music sheet paper …

I’ve cut around the bird & banner of a second copy of the paper and raised it using 3D foams. That’s how I put the twine between the birds beak.

Used a gel pen to highlight certain elements on paper, distressed, misted & inked!

Thank you for your lovely comments … they are always appreciated!

3 challenges with 1 layout

I guess my mind works in mysterious ways, and is able to see more than just one thing … I’ve been feeling very creative lately … maybe it’s because I don’t feel any pressure to finish a layout [I’m all caught up with my DT projects] … maybe it’s just because there are so many inspiring challenges out there!!!

So to start with I’m entering this in CSI Case no. 11 Once again their challenges just made me get out my papers and photos!

Here is the layout I have to show you!!!

Evidence: Used paint in background, butterfly accents, string, tearing, and vintage images.

Testimony:  I scattered my journaling and ‘elevated’ some words by using mini alphabets, and I also used the inspiration words: wonder, ties

The layout was inspired by Melenia’s sketch on Get Creative … I love her sketches so much that it didn’t seem right not to use it!

Finally I’m also entering it in Bird is the Word as I’ve used their CHARM word, both in the title and the journaling!

Central cluster around the photo .. used fussy cut images. Can you spy my little crochet piece that I’ve tucked under it all?

Used my Sakura starburst paints to enhance part of the paper, as well as distress ink, to add more of the colours!

My title is on the chipboard: Be your charming self! My stitching, more embellies!

Thank you for stopping by, and I just wanted to say that almost 90% of the stuff I used I have got from Enjoy Scrapping a Greek On-Line shop that goes a little extra mile for its customers!!

The quack song

I’ve finished yet another layout …

This time it’s for the Once Upon a Time challenge, which I really wanted to do, as it was very original … the journaling requirements were to write about:

A most embarrassing/awkward/uncomfortable moment or characteristic/feature/habit/mannerism/quality or quirk you or someone around you possesses. Journal at least 2 SENTENCES on a moment that you will remember for all the wrong reasons.

… and we had to use the following sketch:

God knows I have done some embarrassing things over the years, but to have it captured on film … well it’s been years since I’ve let others photograph me … So this was an opportunity to look thru older albums and take a trip down memory lane …

So I travel you back to 1997, my first trip to the UK, with my cousins Anastasia & Katerina … I was so young then, crazy, and very spontaneous … LOL

Finding myself in an English speaking environment after spending years in Greece, unleashed a crazy side to me … seriously!! One of the most quirky things was my reaction when we were in parks and I would see squirrels, pigeons and ducks …

When I would see ducks I would start quacking, and quacking without even knowing that I would do it … LOL … it would come out, from deep within me! Suffice to say, that my cousins would start hooting whenever I’d do that, and they were waiting to capture it on film!

So it this photo I’m doing my little quack song, and even a dance … LOL I’ve journaled on the tag about this embarrassing habit, and how now looking back I’m wondering whatever was I thinking!!!!

The layout:

I’ve used Echo Park: Victoria gardens paper pack, as it was suitable as the photo was taken in Regent’s Park in the UK.

Close ups:

Bottom right corner, baker's twin, stickers

Full view of journalling tag pulled out, there's writing on back too ...

The photo was not taken with  a digital camera, and I have so many more photos that I’d love to scrap some day!🙂

Sunday chatter and a layout!

Good afternoon everyone!

This week has flown by again, more strikes, and thankfully my lovely boss provided  a ride home on two occasions …

From Thursday onwards I started to feel a bit ill, and this weekend I’ve cancelled everything and just stayed home, rested, ate healthily, and had a chance to  play a bit!

I’ve signed up with Shimelle’s new Pretty Paper Party Class and I totally agree with her philosophy of using our pretty paper while we love them!

I’ve been enjoying her prompts while drinking my hot tea with honey, and have even incorporated a new of her tips in the following layout!

So here is the layout that I have to share with you:

My Our Story Together

pa2312301 I’m entering this layout in the Bird is the Word challenge: Together!

I have used the 10.13 Sketchy Thursday sketch … a bit late with the layout for the challenge but since I had started it with that sketch I wanted to finish it!🙂 So thanks girls for the great sketches and inspiration!

I had started this layout on Tuesday, I had taken along my Webster About me kit  which I had picked up at the Craft fair the previous weekend from Lena of Enjoy Scrapbooking, my first 12×12 papers from Webster! I usually just buy the 6×6 paper packs … but having seen the kit up close I couldn’t resist it, and as Shimelle says, I’m using it while I love it!!!

BTW I had so much fun at that Craft fair, I was the lucky winner of something scrapbooking, I won a free entry to Cherry Nest’s new online class, Every day is Christmas!!!!

Ooops, see why my blog is called But first I …

Back to the layout … so I started with this paper:

Once Zeffy & Irini saw the paper and the sketch they both said it would look great if I could print my journalling directly on the paper … well as I don’t have a 12×12 printer, I thought I would do the next best thing and that was to cut it up!🙂

Using the rear side as well …

I was able to add more coordination to balance the layout!!

Some close ups:

Top corner title

Top corner title

I’ve used the sew easy banner to stitch the banner and inspired by Shimelle’s video extra I used red paint to accent it, to give it a bit more red pattern!

Bottom corner

Bottom corner

I’ve raised only part of the paper with 3D foam pads a little trick that I picked up in  a Miss Art’s Papercrafting class! It’s lovely when I learn new tricks & I start using them without even thinking! I’ve used stickles to give it a little extra ummmphhh!

Journalling and bottom corner

More stitching!!!! some bling, and the journaling using different fonts and highlighting words is another trick that I’ve picked up from a Miss Art’s class!!

Added a bit of red paint again to tie with the whole effect …

and finally a side view:

Things that make me happy,

Things I can’t live without!

Together Forever!!!

Friend Card

Hello, today I’d like to share a card that I’ve made ….

I’ve been fascinated with flower tutorials lately, and I found this interesting ONE … I’ve cut the flowers using a scallop punch, paper from a book, and mists to colour them … I’ve also been wearing surgical gloves to mist, as I use a lot of the colour!

I’ve used more of the papers from the Crate Papers Emma’s Shoppe Collection which Lena from Enjoy Scrapping still stock, Baker’s twine which I won from Miss Art’s Papercrafting, Sizzix leaf die, brads from Eyelet Outlet, and the sentiment and butterfly are Unity stamps, from my first Kit Sept. 2008.

Some close-ups:

Butterflies decorated with glitter pens, and baker's twine

Get Creative June 15th Challenge

Chrysa has designed another lovely sketch for this month …

June 15th sketch

The photo that I wanted to scrap was horizontal so I decided to flip the sketch …

rotated version

This is my take on the sketch:

Amazing Friends

This is a photo of me [far left], Sabine from US, Nicky from English, Tina from Scotland, Kate from England, and Cecilie from Norway is taking the photo!

Some amazing friends, who when they heard that I was going to the UK in 2003, decided that we should all meet up for a few days … Amazing trip, amazing friends, amazing memories … that’s why I’m also entering this layout in the Bird is the  Word challenge which is to use the word AMAZE / AMAZING – I’m on a roll now!

Some close ups:

stamping, gems, glossy accent

title banner, small cluster

Some serious clustering going on in this corner … webster paper cut outs, eyelet outlet rhinestone & cameo broach brad, lace [gift from Enjoy Scrapping], small flowers, stamping & embossing, & epoxy buttons. This is inspired by a new class called Cluster Muster by Alyssa McGrew over at Miss Art’s Papercrafting.

Well time for you to get over to the BLOG to check out the over DT’s amazing work!!

Don’t forget GET CREATIVE … and maybe you’ll be the winner of a wonderful prize!!!
