Minibooks for my nieces

Hello everyone …

I’m back in Athens now, and I have to say I had a fantastic time this summer!

I’ve rested, seen friends, bonded with family, and taken lots of photos to keep me busy scrapping for the next months!

I have something to share with you …

At Easter time, my niece Katerina ‘complained’ that I hadn’t created anything ‘scrappy’ for them in a while … so I promised to create some minis for them so that they can do as they like!

I made the base of the book using white paper and envelops which I’ve used as places to put in more tags, journalling and places for them to ‘save’ their secrets!

But I didn’t have time to finish them before I left so I took a few things with me, paper basically and and ink to finish in Naxos …

Unfortunately I forgot 2 important things … glue & scissors …

Scissors I was able to find, glue was another story!!!

Here are the results, just some pages for you to see, and I enclosed lots of embellies, flowers, brads & stickers for them to use as they wish!

I’m back at work from Thursday so still have 2 days to do errands around the house and organise my scrap area!

and these four little girls filled my heart with happiness with they giggles, laughter, carefree playful nature, and for allowing me to capture it all on my camera …

Look how they’ve grown!!!

Everyone who reads my blog must know how much I love, admire, heart my two nieces … well this year they’ve developed and grown so much … it seems  that they are leaving that child phase of games, legos & dolls … and are now into friends, clothes, hairstyles and going out ….

It’s a wonder watching them grow, and even though Sofia is going thru a phase of not wanting her photo taken [I actually found myself telling her: Come on Sofi, what am I going to scrap in the winter!!! LOL], Katerina loved having her photo taken at the moment …

So love when they want my company and we talk and talk … although I know that from now on they will want to hang out more with friends when they are around, but it’s nice that they ask for me too …

I’ve been impressed with Katerina’s eye for photography and will do another post soon of photos that she’s taken …

As for Sofi, she’s so tall, and slimmer, and looks really like a lady …

The fete of Apiranthos

Every year for the last 4 years, on August 15th after the morning service the village celebrates in the church courtyard.  Many volunteers help out, to set up the tables, put up the canopy tent, cook food, serve the food, musicians and singers play free of charge, and people eat and dance …

The visitors to our village get to know the meaning of the world ‘φιλοξενία’ [hospitality]

First of all Happy Nameday to everyone who celebrated today … our whole village is celebrating, in the church courtyard there will be live music, dancing and food until sunset ….

We have invited my brother and his family for the day, so it will be a full day of fun and laughter!!

Birthday party @ Moutsouna

Today I’m enjoying a lazy day so far, but yesterday was very busy …

My nieces  Sofia & Katerina have their birthday on August 16th [same date as I do], but as they have a birthday party they always plan on a Saturday to suit the guests and their Dad!

So, Mom and I arrived around 6.30 pm yesterday, to find the girls off with their friends, and the little ones waiting to get dressed …

It didn’t take long for everyone to arrive, and then Dino the clown, entertained the young and old … this is the 2nd time that Dino entertained at the girls’ party and he’s  always such a laugh …

The girls then blew out their candles …

All in all an amazing evening … there was also a full moon so the whole scenery was magical!!!

Enjoy the photos!!! I was the only one taking photos, so I’m not in any of them at the party … LOL

Sassy Lil Sketches – Switch it up!!

Good morning everyone!

I’m here this morning to share the layout that I did with Sassy’s Week 2 Sketch for August … here is the Original Sketch …

I decided to flip it on its side, and instead of using the 12×12 format, I’ve used an ‘A4′ canvas which was 9×12, and I think the sketch worked quite well …

Here is my layout:

Week 2 Switcharoo!

I’ve used a canvas, which I misted first, and dabbed at it with a wetwipe … then added the stenciled birdcage and birds using 3D acrylic paint, and used distress ink and 3D paint over that …

The border stickers are from Crate Paper, the border punch out is from EK Success, and the chipboard accents are Basic Grey …

The title is a mixture of stickers and a clear acetate title …
